#TCM June Highlights and ‘Summer of Darkness’ #FilmNoir Poster Gallery

I’ve had a love affair with Film Noir posters for as long as I can remember.  The gorgeous art on these ads perfectly capture the mood of the films they represent – the dark and dreary world, the relationships and characters that are etched on our minds.  I am using TCM as my excuse for the gallery I’ve put together, which is listed by date in accordance to the films that will be featured as part of the network’s special, summer-long festival dedicated to Film Noir – Friday Night Spotlight: Summer of Darkness.

I’d be remiss not to mention that TCM’s June schedule is filled with gems well beyond noir.  Wednesday nights will be dedicated to the Star of the Month, which is a unique and exciting choice this June, the Pin-Up Girl!  That festival will kick off with Betty Grable starring in the TCM premiere of H. Bruce Humberstone’s Pin Up Girl from 1944.  Grable, who was honored during last year’s ‘Summer Under the Stars’ festival for the first time proved a hugely popular choice so I can’t wait to watch this entry with other fans at #TCMparty.

Anyway, there is also the ‘TCM Movie Camp’ airing family favorites every Sunday, a tribute to Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward on June 1st, Bulldog Drummond on June 4th, an exciting, six-movie mini-festival on June 18th featuring mammoth, marauding or mutated bugs and much more!  Way too much to list here in any case so be sure to check out the TCM schedule for details.

BUT, as exciting as all of that is it’s the ‘Summer of Darkness’ festival and the Into the Darkness: Investigating Film Noir free, online course that’s causing a lot of the buzz in our circles.  You can take a look at some of the details for the course here or register by clicking on the following image.  DO IT NOW though because the course begins on Monday!

To access the Summer of Darkness schedule go here.  The graphics on the TCM site for this festival are terrific, by the way.  Included is a noir timeline that I’ve already spent a couple of hours staring at!

How’s that for gorgeous heavy-hitters?!

I’ll force myself to return with another gallery in a few weeks as the TCM Friday Night Spotlight: Summer of Darkness continues in July!

  1. Fabulous posters. Thanks for that gorgeous colour lineup of terrific B&W movies. The art work is amazing.

  2. Fantastic collage. Quite mesmerizing, if I do say so myself (and I did say so myself, in case you were wondering).

    1. AGREE!!! I could barely stop choosing. And when I ventured into foreign versions I almost lost my mind. Absolute gorgeousness! Thanks for stopping in!
