This week’s Follies commemorate the landmark film, The Edison Kinetoscopic Record of a Sneeze starring Fred Ott. Released in January 1894 Ott’s Sneeze was one of a series of short films made by William Dickson for the Edison Company for advertising purposes. The star of the short, Ott, was an Edison employee known to his fellow workers in the laboratory for his comic sneezing and other gags. We remember Ott and his sneeze today.
