An image gallery celebrating the genius of Billy Wilder who would have celebrated a birthday today.
This is, I must admit, an inappropriate tribute to a man whose talent for conveying words on the silver screen remains unequaled. Still, I enjoy looking at these images of Wilder at work and at play and hope you do too.
“I was not a guy writing deep-dish revelations. If people see a picture of mine and then sit down and talk about it for 15 minutes, that is a very fine reward, I think.”
We are still fascinated by his work – a very long 15 minutes.
Indeed. Great slideshow, Aurora.
Thanks, Michael!
I gotta watch more films with Tyrone Power in them. Nice tribute to Billy Wilder 🙂
Same goes for me and Ty Power! Glad you liked this.

Great photos of a great talent. He was one in a million.
Sure was! Glad you liked these.

Gorgeous photos. The shot of his tombstone made me laugh out loud.
Even though he’s been deceased for quite some time, I always feel a little sad at the thought of his no longer being alive. Thankfully, there’s TCM – and DVD & blue-ray releases of his work. It would be such a shame for his work to fall into obscurity – as if that could ever happen!
We are the ones who prevent that from happening, aren’t we? 😀 I shutter at the thought. A true great.

Terrific selection of photographs. All interesting. Some fascinating.
Agree and I’m glad you enjoyed this.
I would have loved being a fly on any of those walls.
