A Hollywood Memorial Day

We honor – by remembering – all of our war heroes this weekend.

As a special Memorial Day post I put together a slide-show of classic Hollywood stars performing patriotic duties.  Whether by enlisting in the armed forces, traveling the country with the Hollywood Victory Caravan, performing on Armed forces radio, working war bond drives or entertaining and serving soldiers at the legendary Hollywood Canteen – they did their part for the war effort.

Here’s a look back lest we forget.

  1. Nice photos here. I salute all the men and women in uniform past and present who provide the very freedom every person in this country enjoys today.

I deeply respect all veterans and will always remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. You are never forgotten. I hope all of us can say a prayer this week-end and truly be thankful for all the US soldiers who have died for this great country in order to keep it free. My prayers also go out to all the service men and women out there in harms way today, stay safe.

I will be watching Bataan tomorrow in honor of all the great soldiers past and present. The Hollywood Canteen was a special place. What a difference between Hollywood in the 30s and 40s and Hollywood today.
