If you have been paying attention at all, you may have noticed that I am publishing this ode to characters more than a week after the event actually took place. That is, our ninth Annual What a Character! Blogathon, which officially happened earlier this month.

Thank to co-hosts extraordinaire, Kellee Pratt of Outspoken & Freckled and Paula Guthat of Paula’s Cinema Club, you probably didn’t even notice, but I was not around when we were supposed to be singing the praises of a terrific lot of bloggers. You see, I tested positive for COVID-19 earlier that week and my mind and body were a bit… malfunctioning for lack of a better word. Luckily, I had a mild case of the virus and a bit more than two weeks later, I’m all in basking in character actor glory.
If you want a refresher on the back-story for the What a Character! Blogathon take a look at the Announcement post, which includes the entire list of participants and chosen character actors. Otherwise, I am getting to the main course of this entry, the tributes to memorable supporting players. Here they are…

The long, varied, fascinating career of Harry Cording presented by Caftan Woman
Silver Screenings discusses The Enduring Appeal of the Character Actor
A high school assignment brought Maddy Loves Her Classic Films to Bernard Hepton in the first of two entries this year.

Tom Tully and his skillfully genuine portrayals are the focus of Another Old Movie Blog.
Ernie Morrison (aka Sunshine Sammy) gets his due as a film pioneer by Critica Retro
Reel Weegie Midget Reviews shares Diana Rigg Memories in this timely post.

The What a Character! Blogathon is a highlight of my blogging year. That’s true not only because I learn so much about the great supporting players, but because each and every blogger who participates in this event brings the heavy artillery. I cannot thank you all enough for making this event so memorable for nine straight years.
To Paula and Kellee – I owe you for carrying the load this year and for your friendship. See you at the 10th anniversary! We’ll have to make it extra special.
So glad you came through your illness OK! Thanks for sharing this post with us, and let’s look forward to nine more years of good health and classic film blogging.
Thank you so much! I was lucky. Now I’m waiting for 2020 to be over to see if the blogging spirits allow me to write more in 2021. 🙂
Sorry to hear you had covid, but very glad to hear you’ve recovered. Looking forward to the 10th Anniversary of this terrific blogathon. 🙂
Thank you, Ruth. I appreciate that. It was scary and I’m lucky.
Of course, we noticed. You were missed, and now we celebrate your recovery.
A suggestion for those days when you need a break: a tee-shirt that says “malfunctioning.” Hee-hee, ha-ha, giggle, snort.
Glad all ok now, and good to hear the 3 Musketeers of this blogathon will be back next year… already have a wee idea of who I might write about…
Great! I think I do too. Thank you!
