I am a sucker for NYC films and just real crazy, insane type comedy. This film is so fast moving, you find yourself trying to catch you breath as you watch it. He does such a good job as the fictional Doctor Gillespie working with Lew Ayres in the Dr. Kildare series. I am really seeking more and more of his films out and would love to see the film you mentioned here.

My favorite Barrymore movie will always be the 1939, On Borrowed Time. It is a film with loads of character actors. It deals with the touchy subject of death in both a serious and funny way. Hope you have seen it.

It comes out four times a year. They also have a sister monthly newspaper called Classic Images. Both are dedicated to Classic films only. I stopped subscribing to both of them about a year ago because I have simply run out of room. But I do still buy FGA occasionally at Barnes And Nobel which does stock it in many of their NYC stores. I am pretty sure FGA/CI now offer an online version of both papers as well. What is great about both papers is that you can order back issues as well.

I am sure if you submitted your stories to them, they would print them. Your passion for classic films shines through in your excellent writing and perspectives on everything pertaining to the classic film genre. Let me know if you ever submit any stories.

But when I started blogging it was stressful because I wanted to be perfect or uber-professional. Realizing this is just a way for me to voice my own opinions and have fun eased the tension. I am just a movie fan.

I’ve never read “Films of a Golden Age’ but will search for it now. I’m sure those posts you did are amazing!! I’d love to read them!

When we do the WHAT A CHARACTER! blogathon this year I’m hoping we dont get many repeats in actors so people like those you mention get some attention. Who knows who I’ll pick this year. It’s all such fun!

I saw and enjoyed the Winslet, HBO Midlred Pierce, which is much truer to the novel than the 1940s version of the film. BUT, sine I love the film with Joan Crawford and the other classics, the enjoyment just didnt compare!
